Pharm.D. Application Instructions

Step Two

Complete PharmCAS Application

The UMKC School of Pharmacy utilizes the Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS), a centralized application service for applicants applying to colleges and schools of pharmacy. Please read and follow the specific PharmCAS application instructions. Applicants applying for regular admission must complete and submit the PharmCAS Application with all required documentation and fee no later than the March 1, 2019 deadline. Applicants applying for the Early Decision admission must apply no later than Sept. 4, 2018.

Official transcript(s) from each college attended showing all coursework attempted and completed through the Fall 2018 term must be submitted immediately following finalization of the term to PharmCAS. If an official transcript is not available at the time of application, applicants must have an official transcript sent to PharmCAS after the term is finalized and grades are posted. Follow the “academic update” instructions provided by PharmCAS to post Fall grades (PharmCAS academic update window noted on the Admissions Timeline Calendar). Spring and Summer grades are submitted directly to UMKC.

Please note: If you are sending electronic transcripts to PharmCAS, please beware that the PharmCAS option could be listed under “A” for American Association for Colleges of Pharmacy (PharmCAS). You can find a screen grab here of how UMKC display’s the drop down box.

Early Decision Admission Program

The Early Decision Program is a binding option for applicants who have decided that a particular pharmacy degree program is their first choice and that they will enroll if accepted. As an Early Decision applicant, you can apply to only one pharmacy degree program. In addition to completing the PharmCAS application, applicants applying for Early Decision must arrange for PharmCAS to receive all of their official transcripts and fee by the September deadline. If your application, transcripts, or fee arrive after the Early Decision deadline, PharmCAS will automatically change your file from Early Decision status to Regular status.

Site Selection

When you apply, you rank your site preferences. Do not rank a site if you are certain it is not a good fit for you.  You are placed at your preferred site when you are given your admission offer, unless that site is full and then you are placed at your next choice.  We try our best to place you at you preferred site, but we cannot guarantee any specific placement.  Since we offer rolling admissions, your best chance to get your preferred site it to apply early.

Once students have submitted their PharmCAS application they should continue to monitor their applicant portal.
