Office of Experiential Learning

The Office of Experiential Learning (OEL) adheres to the UMKC School of Pharmacy’s mission to educate, innovate, discover, engage, and serve to improve health and vision to shape the future of healthcare and improve lives. This office coordinates Introductory and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE/APPE) for students on the Kansas City, Columbia and Springfield campuses. IPPE and APPE experiences account for approximately 30% of the professional curriculum, providing academic credit as well as internship hours toward pharmacist licensure. In addition, the OEL serves to recruit and maintain practice site and preceptor relationships, make student assignments to both practice sites and preceptors, and support faculty members as well as students throughout the experiential process.
