Biography
Dr. Lisa Cillessen earned her bachelor of science degree in cell and molecular biology from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri and her doctor of pharmacy degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. She completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency in ambulatory care and academia at Northeastern University and Harbor Health Services in Boston, Massachusetts. She joined the faculty of the UMKC School of Pharmacy in 2015, and was promoted to clinical associate professor in 2021.
She is a board certified ambulatory care pharmacist and practices at Jordan Valley Community Health Center, providing chronic disease management services to the uninsured and underinsured. She is the residency program director for UMKC’s American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited post-graduate year 2 (PGY2) residency program in ambulatory care and academia in collaboration with Jordan Valley Community Health Center.
Dr. Cillessen is an active member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, American Pharmacists Association, and Missouri Pharmacy Association. She serves as the co-advisor for the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP), Rho Chi Honor Society, and Public Health Organization. Her research interests include point-of-care testing, wellness and wellbeing, chronic disease management in the underserved, and collaborative learning activities.
