Biography

Dr. Smith’s specialty is cardiology medicine. He graduated from UMKC in 2000 and completed his post-doctoral training at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa in 2001. He worked as a clinical pharmacist at KU hospital specializing in cardiology for seven years. Dr. Smith’s clinical practice site is with the cardiology service at University Health at Truman Medical Center, where he rounds with the inpatient cardiology service. His current projects include medication optimization in patients with coronary artery disease and increasing participation to cardiac rehabilitation. He is currently serving as the chair of the ACCP Cardiology PRN and national president-elect of the Rho Chi Society.
