About

Kendall Guthrie received her doctor of pharmacy degree from the UMKC School of Pharmacy in May 2013. Upon graduation, she completed an ASHP accredited PGY1 community practice residency with Red Cross Pharmacy in Excelsior Springs, Missouri and joined the company as a clinical pharmacist in July 2014. In 2015, she joined the UMKC School of Pharmacy as a clinical assistant professor in the Division of Pharmacy Practice and Administration. She was promoted to clinical associate professor in 2021.

Dr. Guthrie is a board certified ambulatory care pharmacist and has had a variety of experiences in community pharmacy practice. She currently practices at North Kansas City Hospital Outpatient Pharmacy. Along with her experiential students, Dr. Guthrie participates in multiple patient care initiatives with a heavy emphasis on medication adherence and transitions of care. She has a passion for expanding services within community pharmacies and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Missouri Pharmacy Association.

Dr. Guthrie also provides didactic education to pharmacy students. She serves as the course coordinator for the self-care applied skills lab and co-coordinates the parent course. Along with her coordination efforts, Dr. Guthrie instructs in the following courses: Self-Care and Nonprescription Pharmacotherapy course and lab, Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery, Pharmacy Practice Leadership, and Patient-Centered Care and Ethical Practice. She is a member of the Curriculum Committee and currently serves as the Academia-Community Pharmacy Enhanced Services Network Transformation (ACT) champion for the UMKC School of Pharmacy. Her scholarly interests include clinical service development in the community setting and innovative teaching within applied skills lab courses.
