Dr. Smith’s specialty is cardiology medicine. He graduated from UMKC in 2000 and  completed his post-doctoral training at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa in 2001. He worked as a clinical pharmacist at KU hospital specializing in cardiology for seven years. Dr. Smith’s clinical practice site is with the cardiology service at Truman Medical Center at Hospital Hill, where he rounds with the inpatient cardiology service. His current projects include medication optimization in patients with coronary artery disease and increasing participation to cardiac rehabilitation.  He is currently serving as the chair of the ACCP Education and Training PRN and national secretary of the Rho Chi Society.

Research interests:

Heart failure medication therapy, cardiovascular secondary prevention therapy, pharmacy education, and medication adherence.
