Pharmacy College Admission Test

What is the PCAT?

The PCAT is a standardized test given by The Psychological Corporation, given 4 times every year through out the country.  The test includes five subject area categories:  Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, Biology, Chemistry and Reading Comprehension.

Can I register online for the PCAT?

Yes, click on www.pcatweb.info to do so. The registration fee this year is $125.00.

When is the PCAT?

The dates for next school year are:

  • October 17, 2009
  • January 23, 2010

Scores from the January PCAT are accepted for admission even though the last test falls after the application deadline.

How we look at the PCAT.

There is no required minimum score for the PCAT, however, the higher the score the better, since admission is competitive.  Applicants will notice that there are two scores that are given, a Scaled Score and a Percentile.  The Percentile score is used for admission purposes. We will only look at scores taken since the June 2008 test.

Retaking the PCAT.

Retaking the test is certainly acceptable since the higher score from each category is considered.  It will not hurt applicants chances for admission, it should only help.

How to study for the PCAT.

There are study guides available to help study for the test.  Our students in the past have recommended Kaplan & the Barron's study guide, however their are several out there to look at. If you are interested in obtaining one of these books, please check your local bookstore or online.  If the bookstore does not carry a study book for the PCAT, ask them if they can order one for you.
