The morning of Saturday, May 3, 2008, friends of the
UMKC Pharmacy Foundation will tee off at Shoal Creek
Golf Course for the 14th annual J. Leo McMahon
Memorial Golf Tournament. Proceeds from the
tournament support the Pharmacy Foundation
Scholarship Fund.
-
The cost of pharmacy education has risen
dramatically over the past several years, making it
more difficult for prospective students to afford
the cost of education. Average cost for in-state
tuition, room and board for our students is over
$22,000 annually or more than $110,000 over the
length of the program. With public funding
declining, private support provides nearly one-third
of the total amount required to educate a pharmacy
student.
-
The Pharmacy Foundation needs your support for our
tournament, but more importantly the opportunities
it will provide our students. In this web site you
will find the sponsorship packages available to
participating companies and individuals. Please
find the one that best fits your ability to support
our students.
-
On the day of the tournament, a sponsor-ship will
place your company name and/or logo directly in
front of members of all levels of the pharmacy
profession. There were over 100 players in the 2007
tournament, including many community, hospital and
chain pharmacists, pharmacy owners, pharmacy
educators, drug distributors, health care
recruiters, and presidents/CEOs of pharmaceutical
firms. Pharmacy students played in the tournament,
and student volunteers helped staff the event.
