Manager, Medical Communications

Summary:

This position will oversee medical communication activities and provide strategic planning across all products and includes national symposium, national meetings, advisory boards, slide sets, advocacy development and other cross functional educational activities. This position will partner with CME (Continuing Medical Education) providers to conceptualize, plan and implement programs for physicians in hematology and oncology as well as those symposium that are not under CME guidelines (outside the US). This includes responsibilities for planning and developing programs, agendas, budgets, and scope of services, as well as the coordination of logistical arrangements for events, including transportation, lodging, AV needs, venue set-up, and supporting documentation. Additionally, this position will manage objectives and participation in national meetings and serve as a representative for vendors, employees and guests. The Manager of Medical Communication will have a meeting planner that reports to them. Responsibilities also include writing and implementing medical communication one-year, three-year and five-year business plans. This position will develop and maintain company relationships with patient advocacy groups and KOLs.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage pre-planning meeting with team members to identify objectives and strategies regarding upcoming meetings.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with OIG and PhRMA Code guidelines during the planning and execution of meetings and events.
  • Manage vendor timelines and activities (e.g., plan scope of events, printing, packaging and shipping of meeting invitations, binders, badges).
  • Submit appropriate items related to meetings and symposium for copy approval (e.g., invitations, At A Glance, etc)
  • Manage (on site) the meeting/event by overseeing hotel staff, vendors and internal service providers to ensure a successful meeting.
  • Meet with the team to evaluate meeting results, resolve follow-up issues, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Oversee participation in national meetings (attendance, activities, communication).
  • Develop and maintain company relationships with patient advocacy groups and KOLs.


Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team environment is critical.
  • Ability to interact cross-functionally at all levels internally, and externally with vendors.
  • Solid problem-solving capabilities (creative thinker related to logistics management).
  • Solid project leadership experience, including the ability to assess workload and prioritize projects under tight deadlines.
  • High skill set in organization and detail.
  • Strategic planning experience.


Requirements & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (medical background - BSN, RPH or PharmD preferred).
  • One year of medical education meeting planning experience desired.
  • Knowledge of travel industry, CME/CE guidelines (LOI) and budget management desired.
  • Prior experience working in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment will be a plus.
  • Travel required (some international).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
