Pharmacy Manager

BioScrip Pharmacy, a nationwide network of community-based
specialty pharmacies, has an opportunity for a Pharmacy Manager at our Kansas
City location. This is a great alternative to a typical retail environment,
with better hours and a clinical focus. Store hours:
M-F: 9 am - 5:30 pm (6:30 pm on Thurs) and Sat (2nd and 4th of the month only):
9 am - 12 pm.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for
the entire pharmacy management function, which includes managing the pharmacy
staff , facility, operations and P&L responsibility and assuring compliance
with all State, Federal pharmacy laws, regulations and payor requirements.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Doctor of Pharmacy
- Bachelor of Science Pharmacy
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year Pharmacy Management experience,
- Or, minimum 2 years in Staff Pharmacist position or
similar managerial responsibilities and training
- Marketing and sales experience preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Must understand, or learn, and execute compliance in
all aspects of distribution and fulfillment in Pharmacies that are
distribution sites for specific specialty pharmaceutical products.

Current knowledge of all applicable federal and state pharmacy laws.

Good presentation and interpersonal skills to convey clinical information
and service message to groups of various sizes and levels of clinical
knowledge.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and
projects concurrently.
- Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in the
principles, procedures and best practices related to this position.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Appropriate level of proficiency in using PC software
to support business activities, especially Microsoft Office and Pharmacy
dispensing system software.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to
interact well with all employee levels.
- The ability to work with confidential material and
maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sensitivity to employee’s and
customer’s information and data.
- Careful attention to detail and strong analytical
skills.
Other (Required licenses, certifications, schedule flexibility/OT, travel
etc.):

Current state pharmacist license.

Must have scheduling flexibility and be able to work overtime and/or until
job is satisfactorily completed.

Must be able to attend after work functions such as support groups, dinners
supported by pharmaceutical manufacturers, etc. to build community
relations.

Must be able to travel to National meetings and other required training
functions.

Must be able to learn and adapt to new business procedural and functional
requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Manages and performs all duties relating to practice of pharmacy for the
store.

Promotes and assures excellence in customer service and customer retention.
-
Trains pharmacy personnel and keeps them informed of policies and
procedures.

Ensures pharmacy personnel are following all applicable federal and state
pharmacy laws.

Puts high quality control procedures in place and ensure that they are
followed so all prescription orders are accurate and complete and filled as
requested.

Interacts and corresponds appropriately with the Boards of Pharmacy and
regulatory agencies.

Works with Information Systems department to enhance pharmacy systems and
train all pharmacy personnel in its use.

Manages Inventory effectively and within guidelines of Corporate
expectations

Understands and executes compliance in all aspects of distribution and
fulfillment in Pharmacies that are distribution sites for specific specialty
pharmaceutical products.

Educates referral sources about BioScrip Pharmacy and the services offered.

Participates in key patient support groups and organizations to promote
BioScrip services.

Maintains a pharmacy library and other standards for facilities and record
keeping to maintain compliance with all State, Federal and regulatory
agencies.

Manages and executes all store specific functions, contracts and programs
within appropriate guidelines.
- Pursues new business
opportunities as necessary and within the guidelines of Corporate and
Pharmacy capability to achieve financial objectives.
- Coordinates, schedules and
participates in sales and marketing efforts and utilizes staff and sales RAM
resources, collaboratively to maximize business growth potential.
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication
skills including group presentation skills.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and
projects concurrently.
- Keeps abreast of current department best practices and
changes to federal and state laws that affect the department.
- Recruits, selects, trains, develops, evaluates,
motivates and retains staff for the successful performance of the Pharmacy
and administer accountability to all Human Resource practices, policies and
procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.
- Keeps staff abreast of current practices and informed
of new developments.
- Administrates and manages department budget.
- Provides effective, safe, and efficient working
conditions, space, equipment, and a positive environment that will maximize
the effectiveness of employees in accomplishing the department objectives.
- Develops, recommends, and implements programs and
objectives to achieve business strategy and goals relative to profitability,
cost control, and organizational effectiveness.
- Represents the company as appropriate in relationships
with customers, suppliers, competitors, government agencies, professional
societies and similar groups.
- Processes all required paperwork according to
established procedures.
- Answers telephone calls in a professional and timely
manner.
- Appropriate level of software proficiency in using PC
software to support business activities, especially Microsoft Office and
Pharmacy dispensing system.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to
interact well with all employee levels.
- Maintains stringent guidelines and an environment of
confidentiality and sensitivity, regarding employees and patients’
information and data, per Company P&P.
- Performs responsibilities as directed achieving
desired results within expected time frames and with a high degree of
quality and professionalism.
- Establishes and maintains positive and productive work
relationship with all staff and customers.
- Demonstrates the behavioral and technical competencies
necessary to effectively complete job responsibilities. Takes personal
initiative for technical and professional development.
- Follows and manages all personnel to compliance
regarding Company Policies and Procedures including, protecting confidential
company, employee and customer information and following good safety
practices in all activities.
- Performs other duties and projects as may be assigned
or deemed necessary at the time of or after initial employment.
